Venture Forge
The Amazon Refresh: Boosting Conversion for the Natural History Museum

About Venture Forge
This project brings together Venture Forge—the UK’s most trusted Amazon agency, renowned for driving e-commerce growth and operational excellence for enterprise brands—and the Natural History Museum, one of the UK’s most iconic and beloved institutions.
The Natural History Museum boasts a popular retail range of educational toys and games designed to inspire curiosity and learning, from plush dinosaurs to interactive board games. To unlock new growth opportunities on Amazon, the museum required a visual strategy that successfully balanced commercial clarity with playful, informative storytelling. Leveraging Venture Forge’s deep marketplace expertise, this collaboration focused on delivering high-impact, optimized digital assets engineered to drive engagement, elevate brand strength, and maximize profitability in the world’s largest online marketplace.

Project Overview
The Natural History Museum, in collaboration with Venture Forge, approached us to create a series of high-quality product photographs to refresh their website and Amazon listings. The project required a combination of clean e-commerce cut-outs alongside engaging model photography to better showcase the products and connect with families shopping online.
The brief focused on creating a wide variety of digital assets that could be used across product listings, brand pages, and online marketing, while capturing the fun, educational spirit of the museum’s toy range.

Objectives
- To refresh the Natural History Museum’s website and Amazon listings with professional product photography
- To create engaging model imagery that shows scale, interaction, and enjoyment
- To provide multiple images per product to improve engagement and sales conversion
- To deliver versatile assets suitable for e-commerce, Amazon, and digital marketing
- To ensure a smooth and efficient shoot process from preparation through to delivery
What we achieved
We developed a complete photography solution tailored to both the brand and the platform requirements.
Clean E-Commerce Photography
We produced crisp, high-resolution cut-out product shots on a clean background, ideal for Amazon listings and online stores. To ensure a cohesive and consistent brand presence, we first collaborated closely with the client to define the ideal quantity and precise angles for each product, a strategy designed to boost customer trust and improve listing rank on Amazon. These images provide clarity, consistency, and professionalism, helping customers clearly understand product features and build confidence when purchasing online. Furthermore, all shots were delivered with image masks(layer masks/alpha channels), providing maximum flexibility for the client to easily drop the products onto various backgrounds and use them across different marketing solutions.
Model Photography & Flexible Casting
To complement the e-commerce imagery, we captured a series of lifestyle model photographs to add personality, show product scale, and boost Amazon engagement. Because the shoot coincided with half-term, we took a flexible approach to casting, using local friends and family instead of an agency. This created a relaxed, authentic atmosphere for the children while securing fully compliant, unlimited usage rights for the client—resulting in significant cost savings without compromising on legal or local authority permissions.
Studio Preparation & Workflow
We requested all products to arrive ahead of the shoot, allowing us to prepare and organise everything in advance. With our 1,000 sq ft studio, we are able to prep stock thoroughly and setting up lighting so that shoot day runs smoothly and efficiently.
This preparation ensures we maximise shooting time and capture a wide range of high-quality assets in a single session.
Creative Approach
Our creative direction was guided by the playful and educational nature of the Natural History Museum’s toy range, resulting in visuals that were:
This allowed us to deliver an aesthetic that felt lively, impactful, and unmistakably aligned with the Natural History Museum’s trusted brand identity.

Outcome & Results
This project was fully end-to-end, managed by our team from initial creative brief through to the final delivery. This included model casting, legal and local authority paperwork management, on-set direction, and all editing and advanced image masking, ensuring a smooth, stress-free workflow from start to finish.
The Natural History Museum team were delighted with the results, and the project showcased how a thoughtful studio approach can successfully balance commercial clarity with playful, authentic storytelling.
